About Aisle Tally

Hi, I’m Paige Whitaker.

I’m a bookkeeper for small businesses, which means I keep a spreadsheet for everything. The grocery list has a column for price. The holiday card list has a column for who sent one back.

Through my twenties I also worked Saturdays for a florist. I loaded the van, conditioned stems in buckets in the back room, and set reception tables before anyone arrived. Then I came back at the end of the night and cleared them. You learn a lot about weddings from the clearing part. You see what got used, what got admired for a minute, and what went straight into the trash.

Aisle Tally is where those two jobs meet. Each post takes one planning question (how much food, how many centerpieces, which signs you actually need) and works it out line by line, so you can redo the math with your own guest count.

How the numbers are checked

  • Every price and every average comes from a source I name: the big wedding studies, a vendor’s own price page, a government figure. I write the date I read it, because prices move.
  • When a number is my advice rather than a figure from a source, I say so (“I’d plan on…”).
  • I don’t take money from vendors to mention them. If that ever changes, the post will say so at the top.
  • If you find a number that is out of date, write to me and I’ll fix it.
